Even tough LFS runs allright on my pc, i probably want to upgrade it if i can get a good deal on some used parts. I haven't been into hardware for a long time so advice is very welcome. (i haven't played games for years untill i found out about LFS )
this is my pc:
Motherboard - Asus a7n8x deluxe
Processor - Amd athlon xp2400+ (at 2ghz)
Ram - 1GB Kinston hyper-x khx3200k2/1g (2x512mb in dual channel mode)
Videocard - Ati x1950 pro agp
HDD1 - Maxtor 80gig
HDD2 - Seagate 10gig (for backups)
I think upgrading the processor is the best thing to do.. right? Does anybody know what the fastest processor is that i can get for this motherboard? (and is the kinston memory fast enough to keep up with it?)
(i just noticed i posted this in the wrong forum section)
I also have a x1950 pro (agp) and AA doesn't seem to work at any resolution.
I play at 1280x1024 because the rest of my pc isn't that fast.. (athlon xp 2400+, 1GB ram) but i would like some anti aliasing for sure!
-edit-
problem is solved.. i just messed with the catalyst control center some more and it works fine. Now i run 2x AA and 16x AF and that doesn't seem to lower the framerates noticably
Ok, now im getting the same lap times with the sequential shifter as well as the paddles as i did with automatic shifting.. so im already getting used to it.
I like the sequential shifter the most, but the paddles are the best option for fast laps and safer racing.
I have my g25 (and S2) for about a week or so now, and im switching from automatic gearbox to the paddles on the steer. My laptimes are slower as im not used to it yet, but i guess when you get used to it it's faster.
I don't really use the shifter at all, i don't see me getting good laptimes with just one hand on the wheel.
I did have alot of fun with a keyboard.. that's definitly possible, but a wheel is even alot more fun!
Even when you think you won't get used to a wheel.. you will.
I played this game for about 2 weeks with keyboard and bought a g25.. at first it felt wierd and i was getting worse lap times for a longer period than i was expecting for sure! I even doubted if i would get used to it.
Now after some time.. i never ever want to race with a keyboard again, a wheel is a must for this! But make sure your wheel and you are in a good position. For example if your wheel is placed too low, it's way harder to control. (i had to fix that because i have some sort of badly designed pc desk
I find it kinda hard to see wich triangle is my own car on the minimap while racing.. because the colors are pretty close toghether.
Maybe the color of the triangle of the players car could be a totally different color so it's really easy to see? A small change that would help i think.
